Sophie M. Cavins Obituary (1932

Sophie M. Cavins, 90, of Grayville, Illinois, died Monday, April 17, 2023, at her home. She was born November 8, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Victoria (Mirek) Adamiec. She was married to June L. Cavins and he preceded her in death in 1979. Sophie worked as a secretary for a CPA firm. She was a member of the St. Marys Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Sophie was active with the Grayville Senior Citizens and was a member of the VFW Womens Auxiliary for 28 years, and the American Legion Womens Auxiliary for 37 years. Playing BINGO was among her favorite pastimes. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Stephanie Rybka; brothers Frank, John, Alex, and Joe Adamiec; and sister-in-law Dorothy Toots Cowling. Visitation and funeral are Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville, Illinois. Visitation is at 9 am and funeral is at 10 am. Burial is in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Grayville Senior Citizens and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville, Illinois.
