Dr. Alfred Doan Phillips Obituary (1925

Dr. Alfred Doan Phillips, 87, of Carmi, Illinois, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Phoenix Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in Carmi. He was born October 22, 1925, in Carterville, Illinois, the son of Harry Lee and Nellie Lynda Jane (Doan) Phillips. He was married to the former Mary Deering and later to the former Beth Morrow and both wives preceded him in death. Dr. Phillips was an optometrist in Carmi for many years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Carmi, and served as a sergeant during World War II in the Army. Survivors include son Mike Phillips of Ft. Collins, Colorado; daughter Diann Glover of Carmi; step-daughter Juli (Mike) Healey of Panama City Beach, Florida; grandchildren Ben (Lindsey) Glover, Jake (Ally) Glover; step-grandchildren Jacqui Healey and Andrew Healey; great grandchildren Ryleigh Glover, Liam Glover, Dylan Schmidt, Sydalee Beth Lewis, and Henry James Glover (due to be born in August 2013); niece Carol (Monty) Jones of Benld, Illinois; nephew Ron (Becky) Phillips of Marion, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents; both wives; daughter Karen; and brother Lee. In keeping with Dr. Phillips wishes, his remains were cremated. A graveside service with military rites will be at 2 pm, Friday, at Oddfellows Cemetery in Marion. Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi is in charge of arrangements. Service: Oddfellows Cemetery, Marion, IL
