Loretta A. Carty-Brockett

Loretta A. Carty-Brockett, 59, of Carmi, Illinois, died Saturday, January 18, 2014, surrounded by her family and best friend at Phoenix Rehabilitation and Nursing in Carmi. She was born December 3, 1954, in Carmi, the daughter of William Pat and Viola Carty.

Loretta was a homemaker and member of the Carmi Church of God. She earned an Associates Degree in computer information services. Reading and her family were her favorite things.

Survivors include sons David, Patrick and Nathaniel Brockett; daughters Diana (Bill) Gilpin and Amanda (Tim) Knight; all of Carmi; brothers Melvin Carty of Obion, Tennessee, Wade Carty and Tony Carty of Carmi; sisters Darlene (Bernard) Pfister of Front Royal, Virginia, Lillie Carty of Lafayette, Indiana; grandchildren Tyler Pretzsch, Braden Brockett, Gracia Brockett, Alicia Knight.

She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter Taylor Cokley; sister-in-law Sandy Carty and niece Emilie Turrentine.

Visitation is 5-8 pm, Monday, January 20, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Funeral is at 10 am, Tuesday, January 21 at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi with burial in North Maple Ridge Cemetery.
